What We Can Offer

 

LEARN OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM!

 

Certificated Courses

Probably the most common option for Schools, Colleges and Groups. Visit us with the aim of the students gaining some form of Award.

Over a typical six week block of 2 hour sessions (12 hours)

we can work through RYA stage 1 Sailing, BCU 1 Star or RYA Level 1 Powerboat.

RYA Stage 1 Sailing

An introduction to the sport, covering the knowledge required to get afloat under supervision. You will be taught how to rig launch and recover the sailing dinghy as well as the basic techniques of controlling the boat.

BCU 1 Star

An introduction to the sport, covering the knowledge required to get afloat under supervision. You will be taught how to launch and the basic techniques of controlling the boat in both kayak and canoe.

RYA Powerboat Level 1

This course provides a practical introduction to boat handling skills and is aimed at the novice boater who wishes to get a taste of boating.

Providing students attend all sessions this certificate is very achievable in the timescale.

All of these awards cover the basics and how to use the specific equipment in that activity.

 

Activity Sessions

We provide fun and excitement activity sessions on and off the water for all kinds of groups, big or small.

The Activities we offer are:

  • Raft Building
  • Team Building Challenges
  • White Water Rafting (age 14 and above only)

Please speak with us about any specific aims and objectives you may have and we can tailor a package to your specific needs.

 

Activity Days

A typical day will involve groups participating in a couple of different activities and challenges.

The Activities we offer are:

  • Kayaking
  • Canoeing
  • Bellboating
  • Sailing
  • Raft Building
  • Team Building Challenges
  • White Water Rafting (age 14 and above only)

This may be a fun day for youngsters to try out something new or perhaps a teambuilding day.  What ever you needs, we can offer the package for you.

 

Regattas

The Centre has played host to various Regattas in recent years, from the Inter-School Regattas in Sailing and Bellboating to the Yarm Regatta in Bellboats.

Our annual Inter-School Bellboat Regatta attracts school from across Stockton-on-Tees and further afield. The event is normally run towards the end of the summer term and takes up either a morning or an afternoon we organise one for the Primary Schools and one for the Secondary Schools.

Why not create a Regatta and challenge other like minded groups to the challenge?

We have ran Regattas for Schools, Colleges, Universities, Scouts, Guides, and many more. 

 

GCSE/BTEC

We are able to run an academic courses such as a GCSE or BTEC and not only help students gain a respectable grade but also achieve a National Governing Body Award along the way, such as an RYA Level 1 Sailing or BCU 1 star.

We pride ourselves on the Quality of the Instruction we are able to offer. All our Coaches are highly qualified and have participated in their sports extensively throughout the UK, Europe as well as in many other Worldwide destinations.  Our Coaches have a vast array of experience.

They are all extremely friendly, and they are always happy to talk with you and your groups and offer their help, assistance and advice.

The Centre is approved by:

  • AALA (adventure Activities Licencing Service)
  • RYA (Royal Yachting Association)
  • BCU ( British Canoe Union)

You can rest assured that all staff are highly trained and qualified in the activities they are instructing.  All our staff undergo an Enhanced CRB Disclosure before being allowed to commence employment at the TBIWWC.

The Centre is annually inspected by the relevant governing bodies to check that the Centre is operating within the guidelines and remits of it’s licence.

All risk assessments and operating procedures are annually inspected and amended as necessary.
