Schools & Education Groups

Tees Barrage International White Water Centre is one of the UK’s leading outdoor activity centres offering an assortment of engaging activities to inspire creativity and promote personal growth and breakthroughs in learning back in the classroom.

Stationed peacefully on the northern bank of the River Tees we are ideally situated on the fringe of both Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees and are conveniently located just off the A19 and A66. Our experienced team have participated and taught outdoor pursuits extensively in the UK and around the world and provide groups with a safe and fun learning environment outside the classroom where teaching staff can be sure that they are fully supported in delivering and achieving the desired outcomes for their group.

All risk assessments and operating procedures are annually inspected and amended as necessary. We work with schools and education groups who may have limited time and resources to take the hassle out of organising. You can rest assured that watersports is our business: and watersports is what we do best!

Combining the excitement of water based activities alongside tried and tested teaching methods, we guarantee a rewarding and fulfilling experience. The centre is fully accredited by the Adventure Activities Licensing Services which ensures that activity providers follow good safety management practices and allows young people to experience exciting and stimulating activities outdoors without being exposed to avoidable risks, as well as the British Canoeing and the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). Each team member has an enhanced DBS Disclosure and the centre is annually inspected by the relevant governing bodies to check that the centre is operating within the guidelines and remits of its licence.

We are open daily with all activities available throughout the year. The peak season here is March to October which may be more suited to those swayed by the elements! We offer teachers and education providers the opportunity to come along and visit the site where we will give you a tour of the facility and discuss your requirements. To arrange a visit please contact the centre directly on 01642 678000 or fill out an enquiry form.
