BUCS Slalom Competition 2017 - 11th &12th February
On Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February, Tees Barrage International White Water Centre will be hosting the British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Slalom on the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee White Water Course. The event is organised by the Friends of Durham University Canoe Club. Formed in 2002 to support Durham University Canoe Club, the DUCC Friends Group have been organising the BUSA/BUCS Slalom Competition at Teesside since 2004.
The competition is an individual timed race from the top to the bottom of the white water course. Competitor abilities vary with some of the best paddlers in the country who regularly compete in the Canoe Slalom Premier Division will be in attendance to students who only started at the start of term in September. It is a fun event with a great atmosphere that is well attended by Universities from around the country as well as the general public. It is free to come down and spectate, with the competition planned to run between 8:30am – 4:30pm. There is also free on-site parking and food and refreshments being served in the Barrage Café on the top floor of the centre building.
